A new committee has raised nearly $170,000 in donations since it was formed last month to oppose the Nov. 8 ballot question that would ban the construction and operation of slaughterhouses in Sioux Falls, the vast majority of it from the South Dakota Soybean Association. It's the first campaign finance disclosure report from Sioux Falls Open For Business, which filed their statement of organization last month. The committee is chaired by former City Councilor Christine Erickson, who's now the executive director of the South Dakota Trucking Association.
